Research Guide for Education

This guide lists selected print and electronic resources available to LCU learners.

Find Books for historical and in-depth information. Books are shelved in call # L-LT.

Search the library catalog by:

• keyword or phrase
• author
• title
• subject
• periodical titles  

Search example: cooperative learning is keyword, group work in education is the subject heading.  Subject headings are listed on the detailed record to define/broaden/narrow terms. 

Find background information in Reference, such as: Early Childhood Education: an international encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of Special Education, Learning Theories 

Find Articles using Databases for current information
Journals shelved by title in current, fiche, film or back issues – see catalog for holdings.
Click here for list of current Education subscriptions.
Many journals not located at LCU may be in a full text database or at a local library or may be requested from another library (1-2 weeks delivery - see ILL Info Guide).

ERIC: indexes journal articles, reports & documents  (few full text) 
     TTU Library Government Documents has ED citations on microfiche

Search interfaces for children:
     Searchasaurus: Primary and Middle search 
     MAS ultra: school edition

Few databases have all articles with text.
Other databases may be useful depending on topic.
Content in databases may change due to contracts between publishers & vendor.
