Research Guide for Behavioral Science (Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice)

This guide lists selected print and electronic resources available to LCU learners.  

Find Books for historical or in-depth information.  Books are shelved by call #s: BF=psychology, HM=sociology, HV=social work & criminal justice, RC=psychiatry 

Search the library catalog by:

  • keyword or phrase
  • author
  • title
  • subject
  • periodical title

Search examples: Ethnic diversity is keyword; subject is Pluralism.
     Gender discrimination is keyword; subject is sex discrimination.
     Subject headings listed on the detailed record define/broaden/narrow terms. 
Find background information in Reference such as:  Encyclopedia of Counseling in BF, Encyclopedia of Social Work in HV, Encyclopedia of Criminology in HV, Criminal Justice in KF  

Find Articles using Indexes or Databases for current information

Many journals not located at LCU may in a full text database or at a local library or may be requested from another library (1-2 weeks delivery – see ILL Info Guide)

Few databases have all articles with text.
Database content may change due to contracts between publisher & vendor.
