Faculty Information
The library staff wants you and your students to visit the library and make complete use of the resources. The online catalog lists the book collection and journal titles with holdings information at the bottom of each full detail record. The Library home page has research and information guides, staff contacts and library hours.
The University Library is the east wing and tower of the Administration building. The library has about 123,000 books, 50,000 ebooks, 500 current subscriptions, 60 databases, videos and audiotapes, microfilm and microfiche. Copiers are located in reference and periodicals.
Library Instruction
Faculty members are encouraged to bring classes to the library. Librarians provide general orientation sessions or course-integrated instruction for your subject. Instruction includes online catalog and database searching as well as traditional print resources. Click here for a sampling of library instruction available. Circulation/ Reserve Service
- Book checkout period for faculty is for the semester.
- Faculty are not assessed overdue fines, but are asked to pay replacement costs for lost books.
- Faculty may select library books or provide personal copies for reserve.
- Please provide teacher’s name and course number.
- Reserve checkout options are: in-library use, 1-3 day, or one-week checkout.
- Lecture notes and brief articles are usually in-library use.
- Written permission from the teacher is needed for any exceptions.
- Multimedia reserve equipment includes a TV with VCR & DVD player. CD players are also available at the Circulation Desk.
Ordering New Materials
Faculty are encouraged to order items to update and add depth to the collection. The New Books list is updated monthly on the library web site.
Choice: current reviews for academic libraries is received to encourage ordering. Click here for online version (on-campus only)
Order forms and brochures are accepted with your name and department. Periodical subscriptions are evaluated annually prior to renewal.
Subscription lists by subject are at the Circulation and Periodical desks, attached to the subject research guides on the webpage, or you may request a copy.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Procedures
Requests are made by sending the book or article citation to ILL@lcu.edu
Please provide as much information as possible.
For books: Title, author, publisher, date edition
For articles: Journal title, article title, author, volume, issue, date, page#s
It is also helpful to include the citations's source (database name or bibliography)
The faculty member is responsible for any charges assessed.
